The Dexter Guide to Writing

Finishing a chapter

Realizing you can make writing a career

But your friends will be like:

Remember not to write ‘perfect’ characters

“Did you sleep at all last night?”

The emotionally and socially crippled author

WRITE. Everyday. Even if it sucks. Even if you don’t want to. WRITE.

At a bar: "I’m an Author, currently working on my latest novel, it's a tale of…"

When people ask how you are, but you’re stuck in the world you created.

Seeing others on social media while you’re busy writing

When you are no longer writing, but marketing & you have to sell yourself

Plot twists!

When a main character turns out to be evil

Meet-cute characters

Will-they-or-won’t-they romances

Meeting new characters that aren’t integral to the plot

Unnecessary characters

Meeting your muse

But your muse is more like:

Getting ready to kill characters

Leaving your crazy readers like:

and other readers like:

Doing the above step too often builds a reputation

Starting a chapter with sudden sex and nonchalantly transitioning

Praise be to the beta reader

Hell hath no fury like an editor scorned
